There have been fewer male infants born in England and Wales in mid 2020 than anticipated, presumably as a result of the stress of the covid-19 pandemic led to extra pregnancy losses of male fetuses.

Outdoors of the pandemic, extra male infants are usually born than feminine ones. Between 2012 and 2020, 1054 boys have been born for each 1000 women annually on common in England and Wales.
